I went to Lace to get a mani (Shellac) and WOW, what a great experience. Professional, clean, and relaxing atmosphere. My nails look AMAZING and she did it with precision and speed. I've never had a shellac color change and manicure done in under an hour and my manicurist, Met, was able to do it! My cuticles feel great and the polish is not thick and feels natural. I will be a regular here for sure.
First off, I love the new TVs they have at On Deck (great upgrade). Second, I love the inthepearl.com deal because you can use it on food AND drinks. My friends and I decided to meet up there so I bought a voucher and we were super HAPPY that you can use it for drinks. Other 'deals' are only good for food. We also got lucky that they had trivia tonight and our table didn't end up last place like we normally do at other places. Most likely buying more deals and coming back for more Trivia. The "hostess" was actually humorous and had good music choices. The food was okay but decent night.
I know it's by the trains, but it's on the right side of the tracks. I love how it's not in a high traffic area and I can really get focused on my studies here. I've enjoyed Breken since spring, but the fall vibe at this place is super cozy. I was lucky enough to be spend a couple of hours here this past weekend. I like their breakfast items, although it can be a bit greasy to my liking. I also like that they offer Smith Tea Maker teas. It's a relaxing place where you can definitely get your work done with a decent view.
Good sports bar with tons of TV. Been here to watch major games in the past and this place was packed. I stopped by for lunch the other day and it was extremely empty and mellow. Had a salad with chicken breast and it was okay. The chicken was too thin and dry. Good service and laid back atmosphere. I would've love to sit outside on the deck, but it was too cold. Where's the sun???
There were several food carts at Jamison Square today which is a nice surprise. It drew a good crowd and everyone was excited about having food carts in the Pearl! Too bad it was a bit windy today otherwise there would've been more people eating at the park. I tried the SLICE Brick Oven Pizza and it was delicious! I had the Hawaiian which was not greasy and the crust was perfect. Everyone I talked to thinks we should have the carts here more often.
First Thursday, Game 2 of the finals, a friend's going away get together and Henry was the spot for us tonight. We got lucky at the bar and had tables by one of the Tvs. Loud atmosphere allowed us to get a bit goofy without drawing too much attention to our group. Always love their hummus w/ pita bread- especially at happy hour prices! Tons of choices on drinks.
Had dinner with a friend at MioSushi tonight and it was relaxing. No pressure and easy going vibe allowed us to catch up and just eat and talk. We ate a lot! We didn't realize how large the bentos were so we each ordered one and two rolls. Good quality and prompt service. Consistent with no crazy surprises which is what I look for in a mellow dinner.
I love their carrot cake cupcake-- which is only available on Sundays. I love the cream cheese frosting-- it's not too sweet and not too creamy. Their jumbo cupcakes are perfect to share with someone special-- or you can always self-indulge. Good place to get cupcakes to go as there is not a lot of standing room inside.
Tried their fish taco lunch special and it was very flavorful and a lot of food. 3 fish tacos, with several salsa sides. It also comes with brown rice with black beans and salsa. Definitely filled me up and it came quickly. Service was okay-- nothing too memorable.
I like that they offer Happy Hour all day on Mondays-- however, I wasn't impressed with their happy hour food selection (need more variety- and portions). Great offering of drinks though. The menu needs editing as their were several items that were duplicated and made it confusing. I was with a group of people and was hoping to be able to watch the game at the bar, but we all felt strained looking up to see the TVs. The TVs felt small compared to the space. Prior to going to Brix, a few people mentioned to me the service isn't very good. When I went, the service was a little rough, half hearted smiles and perma grins are not warming...in fact, a little scary. Also, they try to take our plates before we were done eating and had to put them back down. It was only 7 pm, we're sitting in the bar, and plenty of empty tables. What's the rush?!
I stopped by this store a few weeks ago to look for a baby shower gift for a friend. I wasn't sure what to get and was hoping to get some suggestion from the salesclerk. Unfortunately, she was not very knowledgeable about the products. Since she wasn't sure what she was describing, I was hesitant to buy anything. The store seems to offer a lot of neat selections; maybe I'll stop by again and someone else can provide me more guidance.
Nice ambiance, small with a cozy NW lodge-feel. Coffee is good without the over burnt coffee taste. Service could be a bit quicker as the lines in the morning are a little long. I opted for drip coffee instead of my latte the other morning to speed up the process. I think this would be a nice place to meet up with a friend or a sit back with a book.
I pass by Sammy's Flowers every morning and just love the variety and arrangements they offer. I don't buy flowers on a daily basis but really like the cut flowers I've purchased here. I was very amazed on how long my tulips lasted since it's pretty warm at my office. Walking by this flower shop puts a smile on my face. The flowers are beautiful and healthy looking. Awesome seasonal selections. They definitely add color and life to all the concrete in the area.
Easygoing vibe and a great location to sit back and relax. There are plenty of tables and outlets for laptop users to find a comfy spot to settle in. Also great out dooor seatings out towards Jamison Park. The coffee is good-- however, they do pour overs which takes a bit of time to make. I really love that they serve breakfast until 4 pm. I had roasted potatoes w/ over medium egg and an ice tea for lunch while enjoying a sunny day down in the Pearl. Definitely a relaxing lunch.
I really like the lattes. They are filled to the brim with nice thick foam with a dash of nutmeg. Really good options for lunch. Their salads are very large and could be two full servings if you add meat. I really like the mediterranean salad because of the red wine vinaigrette. They also have gelato if you want dessert! Fun and cute atmosphere.
What can I say... I love Oba! I have never had a dish at Oba! that I did not like. Great happy hour food and love their dinner menu. Must haves are the Certified Angus Burger and the Rockfish Ceviche. The burger is big and juicy served with killer garlic fries. The salsa on the burger makes a difference for me. The Rockfish Ceviche is a meal on its own if you order the larger servings. Really nice pieces of fish well marinaded and perfectly salted chips to bring out the flavors. Lively atmosphere and neat decor. The music can be a little loud sometime. I left with a sore throat once from trying to have a conversation over the music and the other people who were also screaming. My only wish is they open for lunch. :)
